OUR IMPACT

Ethical Practices

Our factories

It takes time and resources to find quality factories, with an ethical production system, certifications, and values the livelihood of their workers. It takes months to build a personal relationship with the owners to communicate our standards & expectations. We emphasize the importance of using organic material, quality of craftsmanship, and minimizing waste during garment production.

We work with several manufacturers who are certified in GOTS, WRAP, Fair Trade, and use Sustainable textiles, along with environmentally friendly dyes. We encourage factories to practice zero-waste by recycling leftover material and to utilize the capability of reducing energy and water usage.

Lima, Peru

Our partners in Peru work exclusively with different groups of Peruvian weavers and artisans focused on fair and sustainable trade in their local community. They work with sustainable materials such as alpaca, & baby alpaca, Tangui cotton, organic cotton, and Pima cotton. Our Peru factory is certified in OEKO-TEX, GOTS, ISO 9001, and members of the WFTO and NEST. As a fast-growing Peruvian exporter they’re committed to clean manufacturing, eco-friendly processes, using sustainable materials, and also helping Peruvian artisans through fair trade practices. Our Peru factory values the principles of fairness before profits. This means that we are committed to paying women artisans fairly and equitably for their work which allows them to care for their families and wellbeing.

SUSTAINABILITY

Fabrics

We love using sustainable and natural materials! We source our alpaca wool from Peru, where the alpacas freely graze on natural grass high in the Andes Mountains. The cotton we use is certified Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX, which means it's been tested for harmful substances and is harmless to human health.

Most widely-produced cotton farmers use harmful chemicals for the growth of their cotton farms. Luckily, our cotton is organic and is certified GOTS. The Global Organic Textile Standard was developed to recognize the requirements for organic textiles. From the harvesting of the raw materials, environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing to labeling, textiles certified to GOTS provide transparency for us and our consumers.

The type of fabric or yarn material used will be listed on the product page of each listing.
